Emily Art is responsible for Grantmakers In Health's (GIH) work on mental/behavioral health and healthy eating/active living. Prior to joining GIH, she was a research assistant at The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools where she created a weekly newsletter, investigated funding opportunities, and provided research support. She also spent five years as a public school teacher, developing an understanding of the central role health plays in the lives of children and families. Ms. Art received a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education from the State University of New York at Geneseo and earned a master of public health degree from The George Washington University. As a graduate student, she was awarded a fellowship to conduct research in the mental health field.
