Cosponsored with Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders

Since Pennsylvania’s original success with a Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI), there has been a flurry of activity across the country to launch state and local programs that offer tax credits, below-market rate loans, loan guarantees, and grants to businesses and organizations providing healthy foods to underserved communities. Ohio has built upon previous healthy food access funding to launch its HFFI with bipartisan support and a blend of public and private funding. On this webinar participants learned where the HFFI movement is today, how it has quickly adopted diverse and creative solutions to meet the unique needs of communities, how funders of all shapes and sizes can play an important role in developing and implementing HFFIs, and key lessons learned from Ohio’s experience in developing its Healthy Food for Ohio initiative. Speakers included: Valerie Heiby of Finance Fund, Olivia Rebanal of Capital Impact Partners, and Heather Torok of St. Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio.
