Every community is impacted by substance use, with devastating consequences for youth, families, schools, businesses, criminal justice, and health care systems. While the opioid epidemic is an immediate reality, many longstanding addiction equity issues persist and new challenges are emerging. This webinar reviewed the latest research and policy issues, explored key findings from a recent report, Lifting the Burden of Addiction: Philanthropic Opportunities to Address Substance Use Disorders in the United States, and discussed ways funders can help improve substance use prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery supports. Speakers included: A. Thomas McLellan and Abigail Mason Woodworth of the Treatment Research Institute and Katherina Rosqueta of the Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania.
