Philanthropy plays a critical role in elevating and supporting strategies to eliminate health disparities and advance health equity. Harm reduction encompasses a wide range of pragmatic public health strategies designed to reduce negative physical, emotional, and social consequences. Harm reduction is not a new approach; its practices, programs, and policies have been utilized across the health care delivery system to address acute and chronic health conditions for decades. On this webinar, funders learned how harm reduction approaches are being effectively implemented in community health centers and other settings, with a particular focus on services supporting homeless individuals and women with behavioral health conditions. Speakers included Barbara DiPietro of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council, Mishka Terplan of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Kimá Joy Taylor of Anka Consulting LLC.
