Grantmakers In Health (GIH) cohosted a special funders’ breakfast at the 2013 National Summit on Advanced Illness Care: A Roadmap for Transformation with the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) on January 30, at 7 a.m. at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, DC.

The breakfast program provided an opportunity for funders to interact with C-TAC leadership and discuss the mission of the coalition and key partners, and the coalition’s action plan to effect national, high-impact change on behalf of patients and their families living with serious illness. The second portion of the agenda provided funders an opportunity to interact with fellow grantmakers in a discussion facilitated by GIH about:

  • the present work and future role of health philanthropy in promoting progress in the field of advanced illness care,
  • the implications of the summit’s content for the work of health funders and public policy, and
  • the role GIH and its partners should play in supporting funders and their work in this field.
