Foundations are implementing a field-building approach to advocacy grantmaking designed to support nonprofits that engage in political environments and develop policy recommendations to advance health and racial equity. Its dimensions include shared identities, resources, connectivity and relationship building, grassroots leadership, and adaptive capacity. This system of advocacy has the capacity to build a grassroots base, align groups working across issues and geography, analyze policies, and develop communication strategies and resources that will enable community members to navigate systems and advance their issues.
