The Health Foundation for Western and Central New York, an independent, private foundation dedicated to improving the health and health care of the people and communities of western and central New York, is seeking a mission-driven Program Officer to join their passionate and engaged team.

Under the direction of the President, the Program Officer contributes to the team achieving the strategic vision and goals of the Foundation.

The Program Officer has responsibility for developing, coordinating and implementing strategic initiatives that support the Foundation’s mission. In conjunction with participating in the development of programs and initiatives, the Program Officer will also monitor the progress and outcome of funded projects and programs. This position will analyze policy implications, opportunities, and barriers as it relates to programming for the foundation, will make recommendations, and will design policy strategies as appropriate.

The Program Officer will have regular communication with the Foundation Trustees through Board and Committee processes under the direction/approval of the President. This position will regularly interact with strategic partners including health care leaders and members of the community to further the Foundation’s priorities.

The position will be located in Syracuse, NY. Regular travel among the 16 counties of Western and Central New York, as well as periodic statewide and national travel, is required. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with necessary insurance is required.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Health Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, MSW or related health or human service field required
• Minimum 7 years experience in health care, health-related consulting and/or community-based health and human services
• Ability to provide fiscal management of programs and initiatives
• Ability to multitask
• Collaborative management style
• Passion for the Health Foundation’s mission
• Broad knowledge of health and community issues in Western and Central New York
• Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
