Implementing Health Reform's Prevention and Public Health Fund

June 29, 2010 – 1:00 PM ET
When: June 29 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern / 12:00 p.m. Central / 11:00 a.m. Mountain / 10:00 a.m. Pacific

Who:  Jeff Levi, Executive Director, Trust for America’s Health

What:  The Prevention and Public Health Fund, established under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, provides for an “expanded and sustained national investment in prevention and public health programs.”  This unprecedented investment seeks to improve health and contain health care costs by supporting a range of prevention programs and public health activities, including modernization of the public health system.  The law also creates the National Prevention, Health Promotion and Public Health Council, which is charged with setting a national strategy on prevention and public health.

During this webinar, Jeff Levi will provide an overview of the Fund and discuss key implementation issues such as how funds may be allocated, types of programs and activities that may receive support, and evaluation plans.  Jeff will also address how this new funding can support the broader, long-term goal of transforming the nation’s public health system.  We will have ample time for open discussion about how foundations can support successful implementation of the Fund, as well as assist state and local health departments and nonprofits in accessing and leveraging these critical new dollars.

Please note that the Webinar is open only to GIH Funding Partners. While you should feel free to share this notice within your organization, please do not disseminate it to others.
