Mental and Oral Health Services Crucial Components of Pediatric Care

Growing awareness around the importance of mental and oral health has resulted in meaningful efforts to link these services to primary care, according to GIH's latest Issue Brief Critical Services for Our Children: Integrating Mental and Oral Health into Primary Care.  

GIH Selects New Board Members

GIH is pleased to announce the addition of Gail Christopher, Tom David, and Betty Wilson to its board of directors.  

Dr. Christopher is vice president for programs at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Dr. David is senior strategist for the Community Clinics Initiative, a joint project of Tides and The California Endowment. Ms. Wilson is president and CEO of The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc.  

Terri Langston Named 2008 Terrance Keenan Leadership Award Recipient

GIH has named Teresa Langston the 2008 recipient of the Terrance Keenan Leadership Award in Health Philanthropy. Ms. Langston is senior program officer for health reform at the Public Welfare Foundation where her innovative approach to funding and advocacy has helped transform the entire field of health grantmaking.  

Health Funders Turn to Strategic Communications to Influence Policy

As the new Grantmakers In Health (GIH) publication Communicating for Policy Change reports, an increasing number of grantmakers recognize the strategic importance of communications in their work, and organizations seeking to influence health policy are particularly likely to view communications as a powerful tool.
