Cosponsored with Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Grantmakers in Aging, and the National Center for Family Philanthropy

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to worsen in the United States and abroad, one thing is clear: the most vulnerable among us will be hit the hardest and take the longest to recover. Lessons learned from previous epidemics like Ebola, H1N1, and the HIV/AIDS crisis can help philanthropy respond effectively to COVID-19 and better protect vulnerable communities. On this webinar, participants discussed what history teaches us about vulnerability during epidemics, what philanthropy can do now to help reduce vulnerability, what the medium and long-term recovery needs are going to be, and potential next steps for philanthropy. Speakers included Brennan Banks of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Kristy Buccieri of Trent University, and Liam Cabal of AIDS United. The discussion will be moderated by Patricia McIlreavy of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy.
