SUMMARY:Policies for Those Who Care: Investing in Systems That Support Family Caregivers
DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Grantmakers In Aging \nAcross the country\, more than 35 million family members are providing care for older adults with chronic\, disabling health conditions. While many organizations are working hard to provide services and supports\, federal\, state\, and local policies do not yet reflect the fact that family caregivers are an important part of the care system. \nDuring this meeting\, funders learned about the current state of family caregiving policy and efforts to create new and innovative policies across the country. Funders discussed collaborative policy opportunities—including public-private partnerships—for improving services and support for family caregivers and explored the role of philanthropy in supporting policy change\, as well as the strategies available to grantmakers of all shapes and sizes to make a difference at the local\, regional\, and state levels. \nSupport for this meeting was provided by Archstone Foundation \n\nMaterials \nFinal Agenda \nDignity Fund in San Francisco \nDignity Fund Coalition \nThe Caring Company \nFCA’s Policy Digest \nCHCS Blog Post \nGIH Issue Focus: Supporting Older Adults and Family Caregiving by Colin Pekruhn \nStrengthening Medicaid Long-Term Services and Supports in an Evolving Policy Environment \nRelated Content\n\nFamily Caregiving Meeting Slideshow – PDF document\, 7945 KB
