SUMMARY:Care Partners: Bridging Families\, Clinics\, and Communities to Advance Late-Life Depression Care
DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Grantmakers In Aging \nDepression affects more than 6.5 million of the 35 million Americans age 65 and older. In 2014\, Archstone Foundation launched its Depression in Late-Life Initiative\, awarding a four-year grant to the University of Washington and the University of California\, Davis to support the Care Partners: Bridging Families\, Clinics\, and Communities to Advance Late-Life Depression Care project. Care Partners is testing innovative approaches to treating depression through community-engaged partners working together to strengthen the involvement of family\, friends\, and community-based organizations in providing enhanced collaborative care for depressed older adults offered in the primary care setting or in the community. An important conversation discussed the successes and challenges in implementing these collaborative care interventions and next steps to build on these models to improve late-life depression care. SUMMARY:Promoting Equity Through Workforce Innovations: Impact of Dental Therapy in Tribal and Indigenous Communities
DESCRIPTION:The practice of dental therapy\, which expands the oral health workforce to include mid-level providers\, is widely recognized as an oral health equity best practice. It has been championed and promoted by tribal and indigenous communities as a successful intervention that increases access to care\, addresses vast oral health disparities\, and improves oral health outcomes. This webinar discussed the historical and social contexts of oral health disparities experienced by tribal communities around the world and the evolution of dental therapy as a successful care model which supports locally representative\, community-oriented\, and culturally appropriate care for these populations. Speakers included Carolyn Angus and Brett Weber of the National Indian Health Board. \nWebinar Recording: \n \nAdditional Resources: \n\nNIHB Dental Health Aide Therapist video\nDental Therapy Webinar Slideshow
