SUMMARY:Care Partners: Bridging Families\, Clinics\, and Communities to Advance Late-Life Depression Care
DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Grantmakers In Aging \nDepression affects more than 6.5 million of the 35 million Americans age 65 and older. In 2014\, Archstone Foundation launched its Depression in Late-Life Initiative\, awarding a four-year grant to the University of Washington and the University of California\, Davis to support the Care Partners: Bridging Families\, Clinics\, and Communities to Advance Late-Life Depression Care project. Care Partners is testing innovative approaches to treating depression through community-engaged partners working together to strengthen the involvement of family\, friends\, and community-based organizations in providing enhanced collaborative care for depressed older adults offered in the primary care setting or in the community. An important conversation discussed the successes and challenges in implementing these collaborative care interventions and next steps to build on these models to improve late-life depression care. Speakers included Ladson Hinton of University of California\, Davis and Laura Rath of Archstone Foundation. \nWebinar Recording: \n \nAdditional Resources: \n\nElder Care Depression Team Program Video\nPalliative Care Webinar Slideshow

SUMMARY:Beyond the Numbers: Rethinking Race\, Research\, and Health Equity
DESCRIPTION:Decades of research have documented pervasive health disparities based on race and ethnicity. What role can health grantmakers play to expand the evidence base and support efforts to collect\, disseminate\, and translate data about racial inequities? What can funders also learn from practitioners about embedding racial equity in research and using community-based methodologies that place diverse voices at the center? This webinar explored how philanthropy can use data and research to advance equity and address the intersections of race\, culture\, and health. Speakers included Altinay Cortes and Kim Glassman of Equal Measure and Tasha Golden of the University of Louisville. \nWebinar Recording: \n \nAdditional Resources: \n\nCreating Healthy Communities Network\nCommunity Development Innovation Review: Arts\, Culture\, and Community Mental Health\nThe Arts and Health Equity: Four Opportunities for Impact\nProject Uncaged\n\n\n
