SUMMARY:Roles for Health Funders in Ensuring the Equitable Distribution of COVID-19 Vaccine
DESCRIPTION:As the COVID-19 vaccine becomes available\, it is imperative that the vaccine is equitably distributed. National guidance for equitable vaccine distribution has been developed by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and the National Academy of Sciences\, Engineering\, and Medicine. However\, states will be primarily responsible for distributing vaccines\, including identifying priority populations\, identifying networks of providers who will administer vaccines\, developing data and reporting systems to track distribution\, and coordinating communications efforts to promote vaccine acceptance. In this interactive discussion\, funders learned more about the status of states’ implementation plans and how health funders can aid states in meeting the ethical and logistical challenges to equitable vaccine distribution during all phases of the vaccination effort. Speakers included Michael Fraser of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials and Julie Morita of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. \nHighlighted Resources and Additional Material: \n\nUnderstanding Diverse Communities and Supporting Equitable and Informed COVID-19 Vaccination Decision-Making (NACCHO\, ASTHO\, NIHB\, AIM\, IVS)\nAddressing Hesitancy and Mistrust in Black and Latinx Communities (NAACP and Unidos US)\nLanguage to Improve Vaccine Acceptance (de Beaumont Foundation)\nBuilding Trust in and Access to a COVID-19 Vaccine Within Communities of Color and Tribal Nations (TFAH)\nVaccine Equity webinar (Health Forward Foundation)\nPublic Health Communications Collaborative resources\nEnvironmental Scan of Public Health Priorities (ASTHO)\n\nWebinar Recording:
