SUMMARY:Strategic Learning: Pacesetting Practices
DESCRIPTION:Philanthropy has increasingly invested in programmatic evaluation\, with growing attention being given to the effectiveness of foundation-level strategies. As foundations move from a commitment to programmatic evaluation to a focus on continuous improvement and strategic learning\, which practices promote success? This webinar discussed key findings from interviews that Episcopal Health Foundation staff conducted with leading peer funders who have navigated this shift. We also learned about the Colorado Health Foundation’s experience of developing a learning practice\, including lessons learned and suggestions for others who want to get started. Speakers included Suzanne Leahy of Episcopal Health Foundation\, Kelci Price of The Colorado Health Foundation\, and Sandra Wegmann of Episcopal Health Foundation. \nRelated Content\n\nStrategic Learning: Pacesetting Practices Presentation – PDF document\, 1476 KB

SUMMARY:Fourth Annual Public-Private Collaborations in Rural Health Meeting
DESCRIPTION:2016 Agenda \nSince 2012\, the Public-Private Collaborations in Rural Health meeting has convened over 120 public and private foundations\, researchers\, and policy makers to discuss federal programs and foundation led-initiatives in rural areas. The meeting presents an opportunity to connect\, share\, and discuss how combined efforts can produce better outcomes for rural residents and communities. \nIn the spirit of collaboration and collective action\, partnerships formed from these meetings built the Care Coordination Aligned Funding Initiative in 2014 and have produced nine programs funded either by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy\, private foundation\, or both\, dedicated to improving outcomes in chronic disease through the coordination of care. During its 2015 meeting\, the group identified a need to tackle health equity through rural leadership. Over the last few months\, a coordinating committee has been collaborating with the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy to develop a strategy to use federal investments to enhance existing foundation programs focusing on developing community leaders to advance health equity in rural communities. \nThe purpose of this fourth meeting was to strengthen current activities and leverage regional and national relationships between foundations\, researchers\, and federal partners. During the meeting\, participants heard from speakers from the Department of Health and Human Services\, Office of Minority Health\, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services\, and other agencies. Participants also had the opportunity to network with peers and hear about rural activities initiated since the last meeting. \nThis meeting was cosponsored by Grantmakers In Health\, the White House Rural Council\, and the National Rural Health Association. \n\nMeeting Location \nWashington Court Hotel\n525 New Jersey Avenue NW\nWashington\, DC 20001 \nRelated Content\n\nSpeaker and Panelist Bios 2016 – PDF document\, 249 KB\nSustainability Framework Background Information – PDF document\, 377 KB\nThe Philanthropic Collaborative for a Healthy Georgia – PDF document\, 272 KB\nParticipating Foundations 2016 – PDF document\, 400 KB
