SUMMARY:Funding Across Networks to Build Health Equity
DESCRIPTION:Washington\, DC – FHI 360 Conference Center \nThis funder convening took place at the Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) 2016 AIDS Philanthropy Summit. The result of an exciting collaboration between FCAA and other affinity groups\, the meeting focused on intersectional approaches to building health equity. Join us for a series of conversations that will spotlight critical points of intersection\, such as health disparities faced by women of color\, barriers to health care and access\, and placed-based challenges to equity. In working with a wide range of philanthropic partners\, the meeting brought together new voices\, perspectives\, and strategies\, and to inspire new debates on how to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic and support those populations and geographies most in need. \nFHI 360 Conference Center\n1825 Connecticut Ave NW\nWashington\, DC 20009 \nThis meeting was cosponsored by Funders Concerned About AIDS; Funders for LGBTQ Issues; Funders Network on Population\, Reproductive Health and Rights; and A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities (ABFE).

SUMMARY:Healthy Food Financing Initiatives: Lessons from Ohio on a Growing National Movement
DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders \nSince Pennsylvania’s original success with a Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI)\, there has been a flurry of activity across the country to launch state and local programs that offer tax credits\, below-market rate loans\, loan guarantees\, and grants to businesses and organizations providing healthy foods to underserved communities. Ohio has built upon previous healthy food access funding to launch its HFFI with bipartisan support and a blend of public and private funding. On this webinar participants learned where the HFFI movement is today\, how it has quickly adopted diverse and creative solutions to meet the unique needs of communities\, how funders of all shapes and sizes can play an important role in developing and implementing HFFIs\, and key lessons learned from Ohio’s experience in developing its Healthy Food for Ohio initiative. Speakers included: Valerie Heiby of Finance Fund\, Olivia Rebanal of Capital Impact Partners\, and Heather Torok of St. Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland\, Ohio. \nHFFI Resources: Capital Impact: Examples of Small Grants Achieving High Impact in food access \nRelated Content\n\nHealthy Food Financing Initiative PP Slides – Microsoft PowerPoint presentation\, 23603 KB\nHFFI: Finance Fund: Food for Every Child: Special Report – PDF document\, 6009 KB\nHFFI: Finance Fund: Hattie Larlham Food Hub Fresh Market: Case Study – PDF document\, 363 KB\nHFFI: Finance Fund: Prather’s IGA: Case Study – PDF document\, 503 KB\nHFFI: Finance Fund: Simon’s Supermarket: Case Study – PDF document\, 390 KB\nHFFI: Finance Fund: Supporting Grocery Development in Ohio: Report – PDF document\, 5721 KB\nHFFI: Capital Impact: California FreshWorks Fund Food Access Report – PDF document\, 1015 KB\nHFFI: Capital Impact: Catalytic Investment Awards Fuel Larger Projects – PDF document\, 327 KB
