SUMMARY:Making Neighborhoods Healthy: Investing in Housing Affordability and Mobility
DESCRIPTION:Safe\, affordable\, and stable housing is essential to improving the health of communities. In many neighborhoods\, however\, rising housing costs\, residential segregation\, and decades of disinvestment have led to stark health disparities for low-income individuals\, people of color\, and other vulnerable populations. \nThis webinar taught us about emerging research and interventions that address the health impact of affordable housing\, fair housing\, and housing mobility. The webinar also explored how funders\, advocates\, and community development partners can collaborate across sectors to fuel investment in health and housing. Speakers included: Megan Haberle and Philip Tegeler of the Poverty and Race Research Action Council\, Noelle St.Clair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia\, and Terry Staudenmaier of The Abell Foundation. \nAdditional Resources: \n\nFollowing the Money: An Analysis of Foundation Grantmaking for Community and Economic Development\nFederal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia: Community Development Data Dashboard\n\nRelated Content\n\nMaking Neighborhoods Healthy: Investing in Housing Affordability and Mobility Slides – PDF document\, 3747 KB\nPRRAC Housing Mobility Video.mp4 – MP4 file\, 110562 KB

SUMMARY:HEAL Policy in Uncertain Times
DESCRIPTION:From the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans\, the past eight years have been fruitful for federal healthy eating/active living (HEAL) policy. Speakers included: Harold Goldstein of Public Health Advocates\, Carter Headrick of Voice for Healthy Kids\, Glenn Schneider of The Horizon Foundation\, and Janelle Waldock of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. \nRelated Content\n\nHEAL Policy in Uncertain Times Slides – PDF document\, 4109 KB
