SUMMARY:Care Partners: Bridging Families\, Clinics\, and Communities to Advance Late-Life Depression Care
DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Grantmakers In Aging \nDepression affects more than 6.5 million of the 35 million Americans age 65 and older. In 2014\, Archstone Foundation launched its Depression in Late-Life Initiative\, awarding a four-year grant to the University of Washington and the University of California\, Davis to support the Care Partners: Bridging Families\, Clinics\, and Communities to Advance Late-Life Depression Care project. Care Partners is testing innovative approaches to treating depression through community-engaged partners working together to strengthen the involvement of family\, friends\, and community-based organizations in providing enhanced collaborative care for depressed older adults offered in the primary care setting or in the community. An important conversation discussed the successes and challenges in implementing these collaborative care interventions and next steps to build on these models to improve late-life depression care. Speakers included Ladson Hinton of University of California\, Davis and Laura Rath of Archstone Foundation. \nWebinar Recording: \n \nAdditional Resources: \n\nElder Care Depression Team Program Video\nPalliative Care Webinar Slideshow

SUMMARY:Dollar Stores’ Growing Impact on Local Food Environments
DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders \nOver the past two decades\, funders have worked with food retailers to help them become better corporate citizens by offering healthy\, fresh\, and affordable food options. Now\, a new kind of food retailer is expanding into rural and low-income urban communities: dollar stores. Mounting evidence shows that dollar stores are triggering the closure of grocery stores\, eliminating jobs\, and eroding food environments in some of the nation’s most vulnerable communities. This webinar discussed the expansion of dollar stores and how funders might start to address the challenges that they present. Speakers included Vanessa Hall-Harper of the Tulsa\, Oklahoma City Council and Frank Morris of KCUR National Public Radio. \nWebinar Recording:
