SUMMARY:The Long View: Operating in Complexity
DESCRIPTION:As the world around us grows more complex\, philanthropic practices must change and adapt. We need responsive\, emergent strategies\, skills\, and mindsets to meet these challenges in an intentional and relational way. \nCodesigned by The Rippel Foundation and Grantmakers In Health\, this webinar featured Carolyn Wang Kong of Blue Shield of California Foundation. She shared how the foundation infuses adaptive learning cycles\, experimentation\, and the centering of lived experience into its approach of operating in complexity. \nParticipants gained practical tools and insights about how to examine current practices and develop new adaptive strategies. \nResources: \n\nPresentation – The Long View: Operating in Complexity\n\nRecording: \n \n

SUMMARY:Trends in Routine Vaccination and Preventive Services for Children
DESCRIPTION:Early data suggest that rates of routine childhood immunization and well-child visits declined during the COVID-19 pandemic\, and with significant variation among different demographic and socioeconomic groups. While some data suggest the rates may be recovering\, many fear that these disruptions could have long-term consequences for communicable disease prevention\, health screenings\, and other preventive care\, especially among populations already experiencing health disparities. Insufficient or lagging data have made it difficult to fully assess these trends or to design policies\, interventions\, and monitoring to address these challenges. A robust conversation was held on evidence to date about missed immunizations and well-child visits\, gaps in data\, and implications for children’s health and public health. The discussion highlighted state-level approaches\, as part of a menu of opportunities for philanthropic partners interested in research\, advocacy\, education\, and community engagement. Presenters included Helen DuPlessis and Rebecca Mendoza of Health Management Associates\, David Wedemeyer of Health Management Associates\, and Michelle Fiscus of the National Academy for State Health Policy. \nRecording:

SUMMARY:Building an Integrated Behavioral Health Workforce for Children and Families
DESCRIPTION:The lack of accessible\, effective behavioral health care is among the greatest threats to the healthy development of children and adolescents\, especially in structurally marginalized communities. In response to this critical care gap\, a group of federally qualified community health centers (FQHCs) and foundations in Massachusetts developed the TEAM UP (Transforming & Expanding Access to Mental Health Care in Urban Pediatrics) for Children Initiative\, an eight-year\, $22 million initiative that builds the capacity of FQHCs to deliver high-quality\, evidence-informed\, trauma-responsive\, integrated behavioral health care to children\, adolescents\, and families. Speakers explored lessons learned and resources from the initiative’s past six years\, including design and investment decisions that have enabled improved access to care\, workforce development and training approaches\, state-level advocacy and reimbursement strategies\, and evaluation and monitoring tools. \nSpeakers included Genevieve Daftary of Codman Square Health Center\, Anita Morris of TEAM UP for Children\, Jessica Rittner of The Klarman Family Foundation\, Amy Rosenthal of Health Care for All\, and Shanna Shulman of the Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation. \nPowerPoint Presentation: \nTEAM UP Overview \nRecording:
