The Cancer Wellness Center was started in 1989 in Skokie, Illinois by three friends who were determined to build a reliable source of information and support for cancer survivors and others living with cancer.

The Center opened in a small, donated space in Skokie and later moved to its present location in Northbrook. Founders Patsy Winicour, Judy Brannon, RN and Mary DeJager, LCSW, began with a telephone hotline and three support groups – the first of their kind in the state. Patsy is still involved today.

Cancer Wellness Center has grown and expanded through its 35-year history, and today the Center provides a number of diversified, high quality targeted, supportive programs and services to individuals and their loved ones impacted by cancer. The Center looks at the whole person and their support network to provide the best support from diagnosis, in-treatment and through post-treatment.

Cancer Wellness Center has doubled in size and scope over the past three years, now serving a diverse group of over 1,800 participants. The Executive Director has stabilized, strengthened, and grown the organization, and with this opportunity for new leadership, the Center will be charting its course for years to come.

The next Executive Director of Cancer Wellness Center will be a proven visionary leader with a minimum of ten to fifteen years professional experience of progressive leadership experience including five years of Senior Management and, most importantly, will have a deep and abiding passion for the mission of Cancer Wellness Center and the individuals and families it serves. The next Executive Director will have demonstrated inspirational executive leadership in organizations where they have led growth and change.  They will possess a strong understanding of non-profit leadership and organizational development and will have experience building healthy and productive teams.

The compensation range for this position annually is between $160,000 and $180,000. In addition to the base salary, the Executive Director will have the opportunity to earn a significant annual bonus by meeting agreed upon Key Performance Indicators.  This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois.

The leader will be a person who is excited to get to know all staff at all levels, both personally and professionally, as well as the individuals and families at Cancer Wellness Center.
