The Trust is seeking an experienced communications professional to join their team as the Communications Manager at the Trust’s offices in Asheville, NC. The Communications Manager will assist with the strategy for all communications to consistently articulate the Trust’s purpose, values, and guiding principles. The Communications Manager will ensure that the trust is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of all information within its diverse network and constituent base. The Communications Manager will work closely with a peer group within the organization as a communications partner on a variety of strategic issues.

Responsibilities

The Communications Manager’s core accountabilities will be:

  1. General Communications Management
    • Collaborates on the development of a cohesive, outcomes- oriented and measurable communications strategy
    • Assists with crisis management and preemptive planning including
      • Cultivating an environment of readiness and alertness
      • Maintaining an awareness of risks and threats to the Trust’s reputation
    • Ensures quality of all information released including its grammatical and compositional quality/ consistency
    • Serves as primary liaisons to the Trust’s communication consultants
  2. Managing Media Relations
    • Assists with the research, writing and distribution of original news releases from the Trust
    • Works closely with leadership to cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional and national media
    • Coordinates news conferences for special organizational announcements including writing comments/ speeches
    • Reviews all grantee news releases prior to distribution as called for in the respective grant agreements
  3. Collateral Materials:
    • Researches, reports and writes publications and materials including the annual report, e-newsletters and other collateral pieces
    • Oversees photography for publications
    • Assists with editing and proofreading services for Trust communications
    • Coordinates monthly Board mailings of summarized articles of interests
  4. Website/ Social Media:
    • Manages websites and social media channels including:
      • Developing and managing the collection of visual assets and copy,
      • Creating posts that are of high quality and visually consistent ensuring the Trust’s posts are easily recognizable and relevant to the target audience
    • Providing for proactive and reactive online community engagement, including trends monitoring, social listening and responding.
    • Ensures dht.org is relative by managing content, links and resources
    • Tracks web site and social media channel analytics

Qualifications

The Trust is seeking a communications professional who possesses the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) years’ communications experience
