Smita Pamar is a Program Director at Grantmakers In Health (GIH), responsible for health equity and population health programs. Prior to joining GIH, Ms. Pamar was Associate Director for Government Affairs and Policy at Gilead Sciences, where she worked in partnership with health departments, health care systems, and community based organizations and managed a corporate funding portfolio for HIV and Viral Hepatitis screening, prevention, and access to health care and services in Alabama, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Texas. Previously she was Director of the Health Research Training Program at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), where she directed a leadership and training program for public health students and co-created the Epi Scholars Program, a health disparities research leadership program. Prior to this, she worked in international reproductive and sexual health programming. Ms. Pamar holds a bachelor’s degree in social anthropology from Boston University and a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University.
