Confronting the Health and Equity Challenges of Climate Change

Communities of color and economically challenged communities have deep experience confronting multifaceted and interrelated challenges, which can often fall outside funders’ siloed health, social, environmental, or other objectives. Yet communities most impacted by climate change are building power, forging critical alliances, and generating community capital, innovation, and systems of mutual support. There are new solutions being pioneered for community health and resilience in the face of climate change and there are new funding strategies to support these efforts. This webinar featured stories and recommendations of community leaders driving this movement. Speakers included Kimberly Lyle of Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, Roger Perez of The Roy & Patricia Disney Family Foundation, Liz Russell of Foundation for Louisiana, Mona Sarfaty of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, Kirsten Shead of Milwaukee Water Commons, and Taylor Thomas of East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice.
