Connections to Nature and Green Spaces: A Path to Health Equity

May 4, 2022, 1:00 pm Eastern

Cosponsored with Blue Sky Funders Forum

Trails, parks, and green spaces play an important role in public health, with benefits ranging from increased physical activity to numerous positive behavioral health outcomes. While need and demand for them rose during the COVID-19 pandemic, the ability to access public places for outdoor recreation and refuge remains a privilege for some rather than a resource for all. During this webinar, we discussed the growing evidence base for the benefits of green spaces, some of the current interventions and strategies being employed to more equitably expand access to communities of color and low-income communities, and why green space access should be included in every funders’ health equity strategy. Speakers included Juan Martinez of Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions and Courtney Schultz of Health & Technology Partners, LLC.
