COVID-19: Managing a Global Response

Cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in 213 countries and regions across six continents. This webinar addressed the unique aspects of response and recovery for a worldwide pandemic, with a focus on international grantmaking to support communities in developing nations. Participants also discussed the balance of funding locally, nationally and internationally with the related challenges and opportunities each approach presents; localization and the importance of grassroots funding; and the implications of supporting healthcare workers, both in the U.S. and abroad. Speakers included Valerie Nkamgang Bemo, Deputy Director for Emergency Response at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Pilar Pacheco, Senior Program Officer for Emergency Response at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and Natalie Ross, Vice President of Resource Development & Strategic Opportunities at the Council on Foundations. Regine Webster from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy will moderate the discussion.
