Impacts of Rising Uninsured Rates and COVID-19 on Latino Children and Families

February 04, 2021 2:00 p.m. Eastern

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the vulnerability and exacerbated the health disparities of children and families, including those of Latino descent. Funders have worked to improve the health status, economic situation, and rate of insurance for Latino families. What work remains to be done to address the barriers this group faces and achieve greater health equity?

This webinar offered an overview of the health coverage status of Latino children and families, including recent research that underscores the impact of COVID-19 on this community, as well as an overview of other threats they face, such as public charge. Presenters also shared their reflections on opportunities to support and advocate for this vulnerable population. Speakers included Samantha Artiga of the Kaiser Family Foundation and Steven Lopez of UNIDOSUS.
