Investing in Transformative Change: Helping States and Communities Align and Deploy Federal Funds

May 26 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. ET

More than a trillion dollars in federal funds are flowing to states and communities across the country through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA); Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act; Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA); and FY 2021 appropriations. Designed to bolster public health capacity, stimulate economic recovery, and reduce inequities, these funds represent an unprecedented opportunity to invest in transformative change. Yet many states and communities may not have the capacity to develop strategic, cross-sector plans or to process and distribute the large amounts of money headed their way. How can philanthropy leverage public-private partnerships to ensure that funds are allocated in an equitable manner, yield meaningful improvement in community health, and pave the way for future advancement of social justice goals? This webinar featured Jeffrey Levi of the George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health.  Participants learned more about the scale, scope, and distribution of federal COVID funding and explore how health funders are seeking to inform, influence, and facilitate forward-thinking investment decisions.
