Looking Ahead: The New Administration’s Priorities on Children and Families’ Health Coverage

January 21, 2021 12:00 p.m. -1:00 pm ET

Recent estimates confirm that the COVID-19 pandemic and its accompanying economic downturn are causing the most significant health insurance coverage losses in this country’s history. Children are particularly vulnerable, as this past year has seen their uninsured rate rise by the largest annual increase in more than a decade. What changes and policy improvements are possible with the incoming presidential administration and the 117th U.S. Congress?

This webinar offered a briefing on the national landscape of children’s health coverage, the impact of COVID-19 on Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the projected priorities of the incoming administration. Presenters will also share their reflections on opportunities for funders to protect and defend coverage and access for children. Speakers included Joan Alker of Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families and Jennifer Haley of the Urban Institute.
