Policy Opportunities to Advance Palliative Care in States

If communities are to provide vulnerable patients with serious illnesses the services and supports they need to thrive, states need to adopt robust policies that allow them to better meet these patients’ complex social and health care needs. New tools, research, and resources have identified numerous opportunities at the state and local levels for grantmakers to make important and lasting impacts that will improve care quality and reduce costs. Watch the video to learn how grantmakers can utilize these new tools and resources and discuss the practical strategies philanthropy can use to advance access to palliative care in their states and communities. Featured speakers included Kitty Purington of the National Academy for State Health Policy, Allison Silvers of the Center to Advance Palliative Care, and Judy Thomas of the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California.
