Supporting Public Health Agencies in COVID Response and Recovery

May 20, 2020 3:00 pm Eastern Time

COVID-19 response and recovery efforts depend heavily on the public health infrastructure at state and local levels. After decades of chronic underfunding, the nation’s public health system is being challenged to provide a diverse range of services to combat COVID-19, including public education, disease screening and testing, contact tracing, quarantine support, and coordination of health care surge capacity. Participants learned more about federal funding for state and local health departments, high priority needs within the public health system, and opportunities for effective philanthropic partnerships. Speakers include Chrissie Juliano of the Big Cities Health Coalition and Dara Lieberman of Trust for America’s Health. Brian Castrucci of the de Beaumont Foundation and Alexandra Rankin of the Missouri Foundation for Health will lead a funder discussion after the speakers’ presentations.
