SUMMARY:One Size Does Not Fit All: Foundation Roles in Policy Change
DESCRIPTION:Hamilton Crowne Plaza | Washington\, DC \n \nThis strategy session is part of the GIH Fall Forum. \n9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Registration and continental breakfast 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.) \nAn increasing number of health foundations view policy change as an important aspect of their mission\, but priorities\, strategic roles\, and investment approaches vary considerably among funders. This session is designed to address the opportunities and challenges facing policy-engaged funders\, while recognizing philanthropic diversity in terms of goals and activities. The agenda will include a consideration of the ways funders are leveraging non-grant resources (such as in-house expertise and reputational assets) to advance policy change\, an exploration of the implications of geographic focus (local\, state\, and national) on funders’ policy strategies\, and a discussion of evaluation methods that support strategic learning regarding policy investments. The interactive nature of this small group meeting promoted candid conversation and collaboration among funders seeking to leverage the power of public policy to achieve improvements in population health. \n\nREGISTRATION \nRegistration Fees \nGIH Funding Partners: $200 ($350 if attending both days of the Fall Forum) \nNon-Funding Partners: $400 ($700 if attending both days of the Fall Forum) \nCancellations should be sent to info@gih.org by October 10\, 2014. Registration costs will be refunded\, less a $35 administrative fee. No requests for refunds after this date will be accepted; however\, a substitute participant may attend the meeting by notifying GIH in advance. \n\nHOTEL INFORMATION \nHamilton Crowne Plaza\n1001 14th Street\, NW\nWashington\, DC 20005 \nRelated Content\n\nAgenda – One Size Does Not Fit All: Foundation Roles in Policy Change – PDF document\, 218 KB\nImplications of Geographic Focus – PDF document\, 647 KB\nEvaluation for Strategic Learning – PDF document\, 606 KB
