Moving Hospitals and Health Systems Upstream
Grantmakers have made major strides in addressing social determinants of health such as housing, access to food, and economic security. As the field deepens its understanding of the root causes of unequal health outcomes, a growing number of funders are working to bring upstream thinking to hospitals and health systems. This webinar shared how foundations are supporting initiatives that bridge the clinical and nonclinical; integrate social needs into medical treatment; and foster collaboration between health care institutions, communities, and cross-sector partners. Speakers included Colby Dailey and Colleen Flynn of Build Healthy Places Network, Mary Phan-Gruber of the Jefferson Regional Foundation, and Antonia Richburg of Cone Health Foundation.
