Climate Change, Equity, and Health: How Funders Can Make a Difference

Climate change is a threat multiplier, posing the greatest danger for communities already bearing the burden of health and environmental challenges. Slowing the effects of worsening air and water quality, higher food prices, hotter temperatures, and extreme weather events, particularly for low-income populations and communities of color, will require both short- and long-term action. This webinar explored climate change through the lens of the social determinants of health; the long-term and immediate health and equity benefits of climate change strategies; and the ways in which health, equity, and environmental funders can intensify their impact. Speakers included: Karla Fortunato of Health and Environmental Funders Network, Faith Mitchell of Grantmakers In Health, Linda Rudolph of Public Health Institute, and Loel Solomon of Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit.
