Jill Shumann, MA, MHS

Vice President for Programming

Jill Shumann is the Vice President for Programming at Grantmakers In Health, overseeing implementation of the strategic plan, program development and management, and innovative growth initiatives. Prior to joining GIH, Jill was National Director in the Office of Strategy and Impact at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), overseeing youth and young adult and cross-cultural outreach and engagement activities. Previously, she was Vice President for Francophone and Lusophone Africa at Population Services International where she was responsible for eight country programs focused on HIV, malaria, reproductive health, and sanitation. Jill also worked domestically in family homelessness and domestic violence, and has been responsible for fundraising, marketing, and volunteer management. She has also been a consultant in global health, performing a range of roles in strategic planning, organizational assessment, technical reviews, and research ethics. Jill holds master’s degrees from Johns Hopkins University in International Affairs and International Public Health. Jill was also a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa.
