Connecting Pediatricians, Families, and Schools for Thriving Youth
October 23, 2024 2:00 pm Eastern
Cosponsored with Grantmakers for Thriving Youth
Families whose children experience health issues that interfere with school success often struggle to navigate school processes, bureaucratic obstacles, and language/cultural barriers when trying to ensure their children can thrive in school. Pediatricians are trusted by families but don’t have the capacity or the mandate to solve school-related challenges. Enter an innovative solution piloted by EdNavigator with support from Oak Foundation. EdNavigator partners with pediatric clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare agencies to match families referred by pediatricians with Navigators who help with school enrollment issues, special education support, and other academic concerns.
Leaders from the field explored how EdNavigator connected across systems to solve education challenges for children and youth in Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, DC, and how this cross-systems approach was a game changer in enabling children and youth to access the services they needed to thrive in school. The speakers included Tim Daly of EdNavigator, Bethiel Girma Holton of Oak Foundation, and Victoria Paulino of EdNavigator.
