Medicaid covers two out of five people with disabilities in the United States, providing access to medical care and long-term care services that help people live independently in their communities. On this webinar, funders heard an overview of Medicaid’s role for this critical population; understood the potential impact that new policies—such as basing Medicaid eligibility on employment—may have on people with disabilities; and discussed recent delivery system changes, such as the movement to commercial managed care. Speakers included Henry Claypool, formerly of the Administration for Community Living at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; MaryBeth Musumeci of The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation; Vikki Wachino, formerly of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid; and Julie Ward of the Public Policy and Legal Advocacy Division at The Arc.
