Webinar:  Centering Health and Racial Equity: It’s an Inside Job

Tuesday, December 14, 2:00 pm ET – 3:00 pm ET

Over the past 18 months, foundations and corporate giving programs have announced unprecedented commitments to health equity and racial justice. Many have begun to thoughtfully assess their own organizations in order to better understand how their internal practices and policies have either impeded or facilitated equity and justice. Their actions are being carefully observed and documented in reports such as the 2020 Diversity Among Philanthropic Professionals Report and Mismatched: Philanthropy’s Response to the Call for Racial Justice, which highlight key lessons and share timely recommendations. While philanthropic institutions are at different points on their equity journeys, one thing is clear: lasting, permanent change requires starting from the inside.

Speakers included  Jo Carcedo of Episcopal Health Foundation and Barbara Leonard of the Maine Health Access Foundation, who delved into their perspectives and shared their long-term plans, promising processes, and lessons learned in centering equity and racial justice at their foundations.
