COVID-19’s Long Tail: Developing a Mental Health Strategy for Recovery
Thursday, September 9, 2021

Cosponsored with Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Council on Foundations, Giving Compass, National Center for Family Philanthropy, New York Life Foundation, and Philanthropy New York

COVID-19 is leaving a long tail of psycho-social impacts from the variety of losses that people have experienced during the pandemic, such as death, illness, housing and job insecurity, and absence of in-person treatment. Policymakers and funders need a sustained and intentional strategy to address these challenges as part of a holistic post-pandemic recovery.  On this webinar participants explored how funding is sensitive to the disparate impacts of COVID-19 and discuss ways that funders can be advocates for the mental health needs of individuals, families, and communities that have suffered multiple losses due to weather-related disasters, pandemics, and economic suffering. Speakers included Tanya Gulliver-Garcia and Sally Ray of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy and Heather Nesle of New York Life Foundation.
