Healthy Food Access and Security Learning Community Meeting #4

Grantmakers In Health was pleased to convene the fourth meeting of the Healthy Food Access and Security Learning Community, an intensive and intimate learning and networking experience open to GIH Funding Partners with portfolios related to food access and security.

This meeting focused on reconciling emergency food response with need for food systems reform, but also covered several other topics (i.e., lifting-up grassroots voices and ending philanthropic paternalism; looking at natural disasters, equity, and food systems in addition to health outcomes and SDOH; climate change’s impacts on food systems; environmental justice and food systems; what the current public health response looks like with food systems; and investing at the federal and local policy levels). The meeting featured Christine James of The John Merck Fund, who engaged the group in peer learning and consultation.

These invitation-only calls are open to learning community members. Non-members can reach out to Colin Pekruhn to learn more.
