The GIH Health Policy Exchange provides policy-engaged funders with information on current issues, access to leading thinkers, and connections with grantmaking peers. This year’s theme is Protecting the Freedom to Give. Against a backdrop of recent federal funding cuts, executive orders, and threats to philanthropy, it is more important than ever for health funders to educate, advocate, and collaborate to support the people, places, and things that are important to us.
This year’s Health Policy Exchange will be held November 18 – 21, 2025, at The Westin Arlington in Arlington, VA.
On Tuesday, November 18, we’re hosting a Hill Day for conference attendees to directly engage with policymakers to underscore the critical role of health funders and share how policy changes are affecting communities nationwide. This full-day event will include a training and practice session, meetings with policymakers and their staff, and a debriefing session. There is no additional cost to participate—simply indicate your interest during the registration process.
On Wednesday, November 19, the conference sessions delve into critical issues like Medicaid, strengthening health funders’ legal and communication strategies, and community-level impacts of recent policy shifts. Ample networking time is also integrated into the agenda, including an unprogrammed lunch to conclude the conference on Friday, November 21.
Throughout the conference, we will highlight opportunities for philanthropic action, public-private partnerships, and policy change to promote better health for all. Join us for the chance to discuss these important topics, network with policymakers and other funders, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Lauren LeRoy Health Policy Lecture
The Health Policy Exchange features the Lauren LeRoy Health Policy Lecture, a lecture series established in honor of former GIH President and CEO Lauren LeRoy and her commitment to increasing communication between the worlds of philanthropy and policy. The honor carries a $5,000 honorarium, and is supported by grants from policy-engaged funders.
Last year’s speaker was Dr. Ashish Jha, Dean of the School of Public Health and Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University.
