Health Care for Immigrant Communities

Cosponsored with Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees

Immigration status is a critical factor affecting an individual’s health. Immigration status determines the type of programs one is eligible for and, as a result, whether or not a person is able to access routine preventive care and treatment. On this webinar, legal and policy experts discussed the basics of immigrant eligibility, the barriers immigrant communities face, and what funders should consider doing at a time of major changes in immigration enforcement and widespread fear within immigrant communities. Speakers included Kathy Ko Chin of the Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum and Jenny Rejeske of the National Immigration Law Center.
