Health Equity Starts with the Data

Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 12:30 pm- 1:30 pm ET

The ability to measure health inequities is critical to addressing them, yet racial and ethnic data and data measuring the drivers of health disparities are often missing or not collected. To address these important data gaps, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, in collaboration with the National Collaborative for Health Equity and RAND Corporation, and Grantmakers In Health, in collaboration with the National Committee on Quality Assurance and with support from The Commonwealth Fund, recently released the reports Charting a Course for an Equity-Centered Data System: Recommendations from the National Commission to Transform Public Health Data Systems and Federal Action Is Needed to Improve Race and Ethnicity Data in Health Programs.

This webinar featured a dive into the findings and a discussion on the reports’ recommendations for improving health equity data and to discuss how philanthropy can help ensure that we can effectively monitor progress towards achieving health equity. Speakers included Gail Christopher of the National Collaborative for Health Equity, Cara James of Grantmakers In Health, Alonzo Plough of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Sarah Scholle of the National Committee on Quality Assurance.  The session was moderated by Laurie Zephyrin of The Commonwealth Fund.
