Making Healthy School Food Accessible: Key Lessons from the Pandemic

May 17 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET

School meals have been a key mechanism for improving family nutrition and addressing childhood hunger for decades, and philanthropy has helped champion many improvements over the years. However, while the pandemic reaffirmed the vital importance of school meals, it also laid bare the inadequacies and inequities that continue to persist across the country. With a potential Child Nutrition Act Reauthorization on the horizon, there is a real opportunity for significant changes to the school food landscape. This webinar discussed the challenges school meal programs are facing due to the pandemic, key lessons learned, and roles grantmakers can play to ensure that schools and communities are equipped for success. Speakers include Crystal Cooper of Chicago Public Schools, Rochelle Davis of Healthy Schools Campaign, and Colin Schwartz of Center for Science in the Public Interest.
