Early childhood is a critical time to build lifelong health and learning. Young children do well when they are raised in supportive families and communities and participate in high-quality early childhood programs. Despite this evidence, the United States invests considerably less money in these early years than in K-12 education. Recently the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Commission to Build a Healthier America issued its latest set of recommendations, one of which calls for greater public and private investments in early childhood development as a way of promoting a lifetime of better health and learning. In this webinar, speakers discussed foundation strategies that address early childhood. Speakers included: Ellen Braff-Guajardo of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation; Paula Braveman of the University of California, San Francisco; Joelle-Jude Fontaine of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation; Kristin Schubert of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; and Jessie Rasmussen of the Buffett Early Childhood Fund.
