GIH has partnered with Rural Matters–a biweekly podcast about rural education, business, and health–to produce a series on rural health and philanthropy entitled, Viewing Rural Health, Education, and Business Through an Equity Lens. The podcast’s mission is to increase awareness, inform discussions, and expand the dialogue on the most important issues facing rural stakeholders. The second episode of the four-part series addressed telehealth in rural areas. During the pandemic, telehealth utilization expanded exponentially and has become critical to helping rural patients access care. This podcast explored the benefits of this expanding service delivery mode, as well as the challenges to achieving equitable telehealth access. Speakers include Heather Demeris of the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth at the Health Resources and Services Administration, Mei Wa Kwong of the Center for Connected Health Policy, Walter Panzirer of the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, and Marilyn Werber Serafini of the Bipartisan Policy Center.
