Grantmakers In Health’s 2025 Survey of Health Conversion Foundations
This report provides an updated census of health conversion foundations as well as key results from a web-based survey that Grantmakers In Health (GIH) conducted in 2025. The foundations covered here arose from the sale, acquisition, merger, or conversion of a nonprofit health care organization (e.g., hospital, health system, health insurance plan) or legal settlement involving one. Health care conversion foundations bring substantial resources to communities throughout the country, and GIH has tracked this field for more than 30 years.
