About the Organization

Mission

To improve the health and well-being of everyone in North Carolina

Vision

To help make North Carolina one of the healthiest states in the nation, in a generation

Who We Are

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation is a private, charitable foundation established as an independent entity by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina in 2000. Over the past two decades we have been honored to work with – and support – organizations, government entities, and community partnerships across the state, investing more than $269 million in North Carolina through grants, collaborations, and special initiatives. While our mission remains consistent, our strategies and priorities shift over time, reflecting what we learn about our organization, the work of our grantees and partners, as well as what is happening around us.

Above all, we’re focused on helping make North Carolina a place where everyone has the opportunity to be as healthy as possible, and we recognize that for many individuals and communities this is just not the case. By investing in solutions that remove barriers to health, while maintaining a commitment to understand and reflect the perspectives of the people, organizations, and communities we partner with and support, our hope is that we can help make the opportunity for good health attainable for more people living in our state.
