Hospitals and Health Systems as Drivers of a Health-Promoting Economy
How can hospitals use their role as anchor institutions to drive health-promoting local economies? This webinar was about The Democracy Collaborative’s Hospitals Aligned for Healthy Communities toolkit series and we heard from three health systems that are focused on inclusive local hiring, procurement, and place-based investment. Webinar participants then discussed how foundations can partner with health care systems to advance population health goals. Speakers included: Michellene Davis of RWJBarnabas Health, Tricia Johnson of Rush University Medical Center, Affan Sheikh of Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, and David Zuckerman of The Democracy Collaborative.
