Open Enrollment Opportunities and Challenges

September 23 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. ET

This fall’s open enrollment period to apply for health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act presents a tremendous opportunity to reduce the rising number of uninsured people throughout the country. Foundations have long supported consumer assistance related to health insurance enrollment and retention. This webinar provided an overview of strategies for reaching the newly uninsured and a discussion of potential solutions for the outreach challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants heard directly from advocates about their targeted work in communities. Speakers included Vincent DeMarco of the Maryland Health Care Coalition for All, Zepporah Fuller from the National Council of Urban Indian Health, Carrie Mead and Carrie Rogers of Community Catalyst, and Madiha Tariq from the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services.
