Metro Health Foundation
Metro Health Foundation is currently reevaluating its grantmaking direction in the wake of learnings from the COVID-19 pandemic. The foundation has also permanently shifted to remote operations and had a leadership change in summer 2021. We are reviewing our bylaws and considering what we should be and how we should be structured, both now and in the future.

By working in collaboration with philanthropy, community, business, and government, we can all aim toward the common goal of greater health for all.
Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland
We deeply believe in the practice of authentic listening and engagement, and we are establishing a more focused emphasis on the social determinants of health – namely, structural racism and community safety – that affect so many neighborhoods in Cleveland. In 2021, we named a new program officer to develop a health equity focus area, intended to connect and uplift resident voices to share community influence and power. Our goal is to help residents challenge the policies and practices that continue to devastate the health and well-being of too many individuals in our communities. It is time for us to invest in building trust.

The California Endowment supported the Center for Evaluation Innovation and Gigi Barsoum to examine what it takes for advocacy to build power through an evaluation of advocacy efforts that were part of the 10-year Building Healthy Communities initiative.

Survey Findings: Perceptions of Health Funders
In July and August 2025, Grantmakers In Health (GIH) conducted research to help health funders better understand how they are viewed by the public. The research included an online survey of engaged voters nationwide and an online focus group with Washington, DC, policy professionals.
An overview of the survey and online focus group findings is now available to all GIH Funding Partners. In addition, this overview was presented on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the 2025 GIH Health Policy Exchange in Arlington, VA.

2024 Health Equity Survey: Understanding the Changing Landscape
In 2024, Grantmakers In Health (GIH) surveyed its Funding Partners to understand how their health equity work has evolved. The survey consisted of 40 questions including demographic information, program focus areas, partner engagement, organizational strategy, priority population, successes, and challenges. This report summarizes findings from the Health Equity Survey titled, “Understanding the Changing Landscape.”
